Back To School Celebration
Preparing Students for a Meaningful Start To The School Year.
The Virginia and Perry Henderson Back To School Celebration (BTSC) has transformed from an annual event affecting the “whole child” to a process involving a “whole family” led strategy which provide children (and their siblings & parents) vital services and exposures to achieve their goals with the help and participation of our local community partners.
Formerly known as "Backpacks for Success", the 100 Black Men of Madison has provided thousands of FREE backpacks filled with school supplies to area at-risk youth over 3 decades.
Event Details
The Back To School Celebration typically occurs on the first Saturday morning in August. Our event is located at the Truax Campus of Madison College. Date, location, and time are subject to change. Please check back over the summer as the event nears for more detailed information.
Please note: all students must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardians in order to receive a backpack with school supplies. Limit of 1 backpack per student.
