STEM Career Opportunities for Tomorrow's Leaders
Each summer, Madison Gas and Electric hosts a group of high school students to explore a variety of carers within the utility space through the Powering the Future: Emerging Leaders Student Program (formerly known as MGE Career Ambassador Program). The program's primary focus is to provide opportunities for students to build career-enhancing leadership skills.

Qualifications
• Enrolled in a Madison area high school, incoming Junior or Senior standing. Recent high school graduates will be considered.
• Strong interest in STEM related careers, with preference for engineering, IT and field operations (trades)
• Reliable transportation to MGE’s downtown office is required
• Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
• Must be able to be engaged in the program and work effectively in a team environment
• Demonstrated leadership abilities
Program Goals
The goal of the program is to inspire and prepare the next generation of diverse talent for the utility industry—specifically MGE—by providing students with immersive, hands-on exposure to high-demand STEM careers (engineering, IT, operations), fostering practical skill development and real-world problem-solving through collaborative projects, and cultivating mentorship and professional communication skills that enable them to serve as industry ambassadors.
Target Age/Grade Level
Madison Area High Students Grades 11 and 12 (incoming Junior or Senior Students, recent high school graduates will also be considered.)
