Supplying students beyond the backpack.
The 25th Annual Back To School Celebration returns to Truax Campus at Madison College this Saturday on August 10th, 2019.

Our goal is to ensure a wonderful & meaningful start of the upcoming school year for all students of our community. In past years, we have been fortunate to provide ten of thousands of backpacks filled with school supplies to area youth. As our event expands into more of a celebration each year, we aim to make sure our services expand appropriately as well.

In addition to FREE School Supplies, the Back To School Celebration will provide Heath Screenings, (including, vision, hearing, immunizations and asthma), School and Reduced Lunch Registration, Free Books for children, Certificates for Free Hair Cuts, Certificates For Child Car Safe Seats, and much, much more!

As always, we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer, and we welcome you to join us in August to make the transition into the school year safe and enjoyable as well.

Who are the backpacks for?
Backpacks handed out on the Saturday event are primarily for elementary school and middle school children.
Who can pick up the backpacks?
Backpacks can only be given to youth who have their parents or guardians with them. They CANNOT be given to youth alone or parents alone.
Can I acquire backpacks for future dissemination associated with another event and/or organization?
No. No exceptions.
I already have backpacks and supplies (or I can purchase them), but in all honesty, I want to take advantage of free backpacks when I can. Is that okay?
Within the context of our mission and values, our objective via the Back To School Celebration is to provide school supplies, vital services, and exposures primarily to economically disadvantaged youth and their families. For that objective to be reached, this event has relied on an honor system exercised by the community year after year.
All things considered, if you have the financial means to afford the backpacks for the children in your family, we kindly ask that you to acquire supplies elsewhere out of respect of those who do not.
Although the amount of backpacks are limited, we do have other services and activities available that we definitely encourage you to partake in. Thank you for your understanding.
I want a backpack for my child but cannot attend that day. Can I still acquire one?
Parents and youth must be in attendance on Saturday in order to acquire a backpack for the children in the family. Please refer to our note below if you know you will be experiencing an extenuating situation outside your control that will prevent you from attending.

If your family or someone you know is experiencing extenuating circumstances prohibiting them from receiving supplies to be distributed Saturday, please email us at president@100blackmenmadison.org to inquire about special accommodations by 12pm, Friday 9 August. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee we will fully satisfy presented requests, nonetheless we will do the best we can to help.
